I have been teaching karate for 20 years now and in my experience, Owen and Ryan Farrant are right at the top of the tree for superb family teaching. They are not only technically accurate and very knowledgable, but far more importantly, they foster an environment of learning, discipline and discovery that ranks them in my eyes as one of the top family karate clubs in Essex and across the UK. I wouldn’t hesitate sending my own children to the club and look forward to seeing the continued success of Kuro Mizu Karate Kai.

I took up Karate at  Kuro Mizu Kai after sitting watching my son. We now do karate as a family activity on a weekly basis. The ( Masters) instructors are a very friendly and kind group. Who are  able to meet the  needs of The individuals . The style itself means that a disability is no longer a reason not to take part. I myself have Ankylising spondilitis ( arthritis of the spine) and if anything l do believe I am all the better for this style of karate. I like that we are all able to train together . Although the karate is very serious it is taught in a fun, safe environment and we always have a good laugh ( this is normally over something I should of done, but didn’t) . Sorry Shihan
Over the years I have watch my son grow from a very shy 7 year old to a confident out going 13 year old who is just about to take he’s black belt exam. One very proud father.

I would highly recommend Kuro Mizu Kai to anyone in the village! I have been a member of the club or the last 6/7 years and it has been life changing, I started as a nervous and shy child and I am now a confident young lady who feels prepared and safe when out and about. I am one of the instructors currently at university and attending karate back at Kuro Mizu Kai has given me the platform to socialise at university as I carry on training and feel safe knowing that I can protect myself when away from home. I can’t stress enough that the club is the perfect place to learn to protect yourself and become aware as an individual or as a family (my family attend with me). If anyone has any questions which they would like answered from a student of the clubs perspective feel free to give me a message!
